🌴 Playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Again. (I restarted before the 3.0 update!)

Categorising this as a project because idk where else to put it lol. I've sunk well over 2500 hours into this game but haven't really touched it for like 2 years. The announcement of new DLC coming out in January made me want to start a fresh island again.

It is too early to have any concrete decorating plans but I'm probably gonna go for a run-down seaside town vibe, especially since it's currently winter.

I am in the northern hemisphere and my island fruit is oranges. 🍊

	Katt	Resident since 2025-12-11	My junkyard cat sweetie and favourite sisterly villager! I was so happy to get her as a starter.
	Billy	Resident since 2025-12-11	My starter jock. I love him and will be restoring his house to its garbage glory as soon as possible. Also lol that he and Katt have matching fringes. I think they need to start a band.
	Piper	Resident since 2025-12-14	Piper arrived on the island with the declaration that she was "trying to bring the perfect world of Piper out of her brain", which is exactly the sort of terrifying energy I love from peppy villagers.
	Midge	Resident since 2025-12-16	Midge was my neighbour in my first ever New Leaf town too. It's nice to be reunited with her as she's such a cutie! All the birds are so underrated imo.
	Jacques	Resident since 2025-12-21	Okay I swear I'm not intentionally hoarding birds. However I do welcome this French hipster crow.
	Naomi	Resident since 2025-12-22	I swear this is the third time I've gotten Naomi as a random move-in, but I'm always happy to see her. She's really cool and I love giving her clothes. A supermodel, a runway star.
	Tabby	Resident since 2025-12-26	MY GIIIIIIRRRLLLLLLL I love her so much!!!! Had to amiibo her in. She's so perfect with her weird terrifying face 💖💖💖 Tabby forever 💖💖💖

2026-01-15

The other day Piper invited herself over to my house. Today she sent me a letter like "hey thanks for letting me visit! put this gift in your house!" and the gift was a surveillance camera. What the hell bird!!!

Anyway the DLC dropped! Pretty fun so far. Bulk crafting straight from the inventory is a real game-changer. I like how the hotel guests also just wander around your island, although I was briefly very confused when I walked out my front door and bumped into Cyrano.

2026-01-13

I updated the map – you can see where I'm planning to put all the bridges lol. So far I've managed to get away without doing any terraforming at all, even for bridge placement (aside from placing paths but I don't really count that as terraforming). Inclines are always trickier but I might skip them entirely for now. I've left the upper levels of the island wild and the vines work well enough.

I really like all my riverside paths. They're nice for running around and fishing. The big blob of path next to Resident Services is an extended town square with a fountain and stalls, and then the squiggle behind the row of three houses (Grizzly, Midge and Bob) is the vegetable garden.

My plan is to turn the downstairs of my house into some kind of bakery or cafe and then turn the upstairs into my messy flat. But I still need to build the upstairs first.

I've finally finished moving all my buildings into place. Next step is sorting out the bridges, but that'll take a while because I am still broke. I should probably update the map. I still have a lot of decorating to do but at least running around the island feels a lot better now.

Cannot believe the DLC finally drops in a few days ahhhhhhh!!!!!!! I've tried to plan my island layout with the hotel location in mind, which basically means I put Jacques and Naomi's houses next to it because I figured they were the most likely villagers to want to live next to a luxury beachfront hotel.

Got a bit silly with the terraforming yesterday. I decided to go pure vanilla for now so it's literally just brick and dirt paths everywhere. Aiming for utility and playability over pure looks since I'll have the dream islands for that soon.

I always forget how annoying the lack of storage is in the beginning. My beaches have so much junk thrown on them. I just want to hoard clothes, is that so wrong???

Jacques ran up to me and said he heard I was working on a project and then he gave me a garbage can because he said I might need it for my project. Wink wink, zut alors. I don't think Jacques has very much faith in me and my project.

Slowly creeping towards three stars and terraforming. I go back and forth on whether or not I want to do minimal terraforming here or go all-out with it. Right now I've just settled everyone on the beach in anticipation of tearing shit up one way or another.

Settled on the island of Crumpet. I got Katt and Billy as my starters, which was an incredibly blessed pull as I love both of them. I've restarted so many times that the first day stuff goes pretty quickly so mostly I just chilled out and fished lol
