Project Hedgerow
๐งถ Knitting some wristwarmers with a nice leaf pattern.
I knit these handwarmers as a gift for Christmas 2025. I followed this pattern by Mary Ann Stephens. The pattern is great. The colourwork is easy to follow, and it also produced the best thumb gusset of any wristwarmers I've made so far. I'm definitely tempted to make a pair for myself too.

My beef with this project is instead with the yarn. I used the same two balls of Rowan Felted Tweed throughout the knitting, but the dye on the darker ball changed dramatically just as I was switching to the second wristwarmer, and as a result the two don't exactly match. At one point I considered knitting a third wristwarmer just to see if it matched one of the other two more closely but that just seemed wasteful.
The contrast is also not great. I like the feel of the yarn, but next time I'd probably choose shades with a higher contrast to show off the colourwork and make any dye weirdness less obvious.
However they did turn out very warm and cosy, so hopefully the recipient will take this wonkiness as homemade charm.
